Stage 7: O Porriño – Redondela
- 4 hours
- 16 km
- Forestry / Industrial
- Easy to Moderate
- 230 m
After a lighter stage the day before, the Way regains intensity with some climbs. Still, this is one of the most beautiful parts of the journey: it begins among rural trails and small villages and ends with the first views of the Vigo Estuary, one of the most memorable moments for many pilgrims.
The climb up to Chan das Pipas requires some stamina, and the descent to Redondela is steep, so it is worth taking it slowly. Upon reaching the city, the pace changes: this is where the Coastal Route joins the Portuguese Central Way, making the flow of pilgrims much more numerous.
Tip: walking sticks are especially useful at this stage, both on the climb and on the descent to Redondela.

El Porriño - Redondela: Photographs

El Porriño - Redondela: Itinerary
A: El Porriño
We leave the urban environment of the village and quickly enter greener surroundings. This transition clearly marks the contrast between the city and the countryside, which will accompany us for much of the stage.
B: Mos
A small village with cobbled streets and typical Galician houses. It is a good place to take a break, refuel, and recharge your batteries, as the stage starts to get steeper from here on.
C: Chapel of Santiaguiño de Antas
A small Romanesque chapel dedicated to Saint James, surrounded by woods and silence. It is one of the most spiritual spots on the route, where many pilgrims like to pause for reflection before continuing on their way.
D: Chan of the Kites
The highest point of the stage, at around 235 m. The climb requires some effort, and the descent to Redondela is quite steep, requiring extra attention, especially to your knees and walking sticks. On clear days, this is also one of the first places where you can see the views of the Vigo estuary.
E: Redondela
Known as the "Village of Viaducts," it marks the meeting point between the Coastal Route and the Portuguese Central Way. The city comes alive with the arrival of pilgrims from both routes, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. There are good options for resting, eating, and exploring in a center full of charm and history.
