The Litoral Trail of the Portuguese Coastal Camino is a hidden treasure by the seaside. Alongside the Atlantic Ocean, this journey is a surprise with every breath of air that accompanies us throughout the route. The quaint villages nestled by the beaches of fishermen from times past form the most picturesque Portuguese landscape today. With the best in hospitality and gastronomy (for seafood lovers), this is an unmissable route.

The adventures don’t stop here, as this is a modern variant of the Coastal Camino. Therefore, several stages can be shared between the two journeys. So, when leaving the Sé do Porto, the choice must be personal. If you call the sea home, then these upcoming stages are designed for you.

Enjoy it.

Stage 1: Porto – Vila Chã

The first stage of the Portuguese central path takes you through the port and ends in the small town of Vairão. The first 15 kilometers are covered in urban areas, between the city and factories. However, upon arriving at Vila do Conde the landscape changes. Buildings give way to housing and roads are replaced by […]

Stage 2: Vila Chã – Póvoa de Varzim

This is the shortest stage of this route and for good reason. Glide to Póvoa and enjoy the night to rest and stroll around this city.

Stage 3: Póvoa de Varzim – Marinhas

On the Póvoa do Varzim - Marinhas stage, you will walk close to the sea, leaving Póvoa de Varzim and will travel for most of the route. Read more here!

Stage 4: Marinhas – Viana do Castelo

The Marinhas - Viana do Castelo stage is a meeting point between the spirit of the Way and its religious origins. Discover everything here!

Stage 5: Viana do Castelo – Caminha

This is one of the longest stages and always uphill. You will see small Portuguese villages for those who love this corner by the sea.

Stage 6: Caminha – Porto de Mougás

This stage is a stunning adventure from start to finish. It couldn't begin in a more original way when we took a boat to Galicia.

Stage 7: Porto de Mougás – Saians

You started in the small town, following a lightly traveled road until you reached a dirt climb. Read more here!

Stage 8: Saians – Redondela

The Saians - Redondela stage is the last stage before the unification of the path with the Portuguese Central Way. Read more details here!

Stage 9: Redondela – Pontevedra

The Redondela - Pontevedra stage, after the great walk the previous day, is a refreshing walk with the best that the route to Santiago has to offer.

Stage 10: Pontevedra-Caldas de Reis

The Pontevedra-Caldas de Reis stage is calm, divided between small forest paths and various populations. Take the opportunity to rest from the most intense last days and let yourself get lost in the small village.

Stage 11: Caldas de Reis-Padrón

The Caldas de Reis-Padrón stage is the smallest on the route. Made between some sections of road, local woods and always following the river. With some urbanizations along the way, take the opportunity to talk to people and observe the path you have already taken at the various viewpoints on this day.

Stage 12: Padrón-Santiago de Compostela

The stage from Padrón to Santiago de Compostela is done both on land and on the road. Although there are still several kilometers to walk through nature, part of the route will be along the road, so it's necessary to be cautious. The last 3 kilometers are already within the city of Santiago de Compostela.
