Stage 3: Saiáns – Redondela

The Saiáns–Redondela stage is the last stage before the route joins the Portuguese Central Way. Although it is long and exhausting, we are captivated by beautiful cities and monuments.
Vigo, even though it is the largest city in Galicia, makes us feel comfortable in this region, especially for pilgrims who miss the metropole atmosphere. However, it's not for everyone.
Leaving the port city is a return to the origins of the road, with lots of green spaces and the wonderful neighborhood of Teis, with an emotional connection straight from the heart of the mountain.
The arrival in Redondela takes place in what for many is one of the most beautiful landscapes on the route.

Saiáns - Redondela: Itinerary
A: Saians
Saiáns is a little way off the main route, but we quickly return to the trail. This time we begin to climb past houses far removed from civilization, and slowly we begin to hear the sound of water slowly approaching. In this forest lost in the middle of Galicia, we are greeted by organic farms and complementary trails that are well worth visiting, if we have the time and courage to do so.
B: Oia (Vigo)
Shortly after leaving Saiáns behind, you arrive at the small town of Oia, already in Vigo territory. It's a good place to stop, have a drink, or stock up at one of the grocery stores before heading on to a more dynamic area. The sea continues to accompany your every step, and on a clear day, the Cíes Islands appear on the horizon as if floating.
C: Vigo
The arrival in Vigo is probably the least interesting part of the entire route. With narrow sidewalks, lots of cars, and few crosswalks, the best thing to do is to stay as close to the sea as possible to avoid further complications. From here, we arrive at the main city and form our opinion. Vigo has a surprise around every corner, especially for those who like boats. However, it is easy to get lost here.
D: Teis
Leaving the urban area of Vigo behind, the Way enters Teis and begins to climb steadily. With every step, the estuary opens up on the horizon and the bridges connecting the banks become part of the landscape.
E: Redondela
The arrival in Redondela marks a return to the typical atmosphere of Galician villages, with cobbled streets and buildings with flower-filled balconies. Here, the Coastal Route meets the Portuguese Central Way, increasing the flow of pilgrims heading towards Santiago.
