  1. Porto Cathedral

Every route out of Porto starts at the Cathedral, almost as a tradition. The first kilometres are inside the city and may feel strange, but with every step you get closer to nature.

  2. Praça do Exército dos Libertadores

The stage is long, so rest whenever you can. Others have stopped here before you, from pilgrims of old to fighters in the Portuguese civil war, which set two brothers and two ideas of the country against each other.

  3. Medieval Bridge of D. Goimil

This little bridge has stood here since the 13th century. It is the first moment you feel the difference between the city you are leaving and the journey you are starting.

  4. Vila Chã

A genuine fishing village, where life follows the rhythm of the sea and local traditions. On such a long stage, it is a good place to take a break and get your energy back.

  5. Vila do Conde

A coastal town that feels like a village where everyone knows each other. The imposing Convent of Santa Clara welcomes you, and there are several albergues, such as Eça Agora, if your legs start to feel heavy.

  6. Arriving in Póvoa de Varzim, end of the Porto to Póvoa de Varzim stage

Just after Vila do Conde, Póvoa welcomes you with different architecture and a different pace. At the São José de Ribamar municipal albergue, one of the friendliest hospitaleros on the whole Camino is waiting for you.
